I recently installed these three paintings in a buyer’s house. We were very pleased with how it looks and she was happy with her purchase. I frame all of my flower work in handmade frames with the help of my father.

twinflames

^Above: 2017, This painting was made to discuss jealousy. I often make my large conceptual pieces about my personal and emotional life. This piece focused on my relationship with my partner at the time. I was very jealous because they told me they were twin flames with someone else. This painting is how I silently expressed my jealousy.

^Above: Introspections, 2017,  This painting is another painting from a dark period of my life. I painted this when I was suffering severely from depression. I called this painting, “Introspection.” While I was creating this piece, I was focusing heavily on my own thoughts.

^Above: 2017, Self Portrait, Forbidden Love and the Big Boned Ghost:

Some of the paintings I made during this period of my life were destroyed. I made a lot of dark art for a while. I’m a little convinced that it was because I was unhappy in my career at the time. This piece was made during that period of creating darker art but it survived my demolition phase. I made this painting about loving someone who you know that you can never be with.

lesbians

^Above: 2016, Girlfriends:

I mostly worked on this painting during the end of 2015. It was a painting about my first lesbian relationship. I was trying to talk about how real love is different than commercialized love or love we see on television shows and in the entertainment industry. It took me over a year to finish this piece.

^Above: Janelle: 2012

My friend Janelle modeled for this work. I really struggled to get this piece right and I am still not sure if I will ever be completely satisfied with it. I wanted this piece to be a comment on the evolution of feminism in some ways. My painting often represent a shift or transition in time rather than an instance.
